A Little Inspiration For You...
Hi everyone...
First of all, if you do read my blog whenever I do a post then thank you! Thank you so much! And I'm so sorry for not posting anything for about a month now. I know I said I'll be doing a "Summer Series" which had 3 (or 4 maybe) parts to it that would follow up to the fashion post (which I will be slightly tweaking and updating soon). And don't worry, if you've been looking forward to those posts they WILL be coming soon.
Also, I'm going to be off to the UK for the next two weeks, so expect to see some lovely photos up soon (I see a trip to Boots long overdue...)
So instead of doing a beauty-related post, like I normally do, I just wanted to do something a little different for you all.
So recently, I've been finding it a little harder to get "creative" you know? And I've always needed to look at some inspiration in order to get my creative juices flowing. One of the main things that inspire me are books, and quotes. I thought that if you guys ever need some inspiration, you can always look back at this post for some!
My favourite book to get quotes from is The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Steven Chboksy. Because that man is just a G-E-N-I-U-S. I also really love John Green, Rainbow Rowell and Veronica Roth.

-John Green, The Fault In Our Stars
(This one is for all of the fangirls out there...)
"Okay? Okay."
-John Green, The Fault In Our Stars
Hope this helped. There are quite a few more quotes that I love, especially by John Green, except I feel like this is enough to keep you guys going for a while. Hope this was nice, I'm kinda worried cuz it's a little different! Oh well.
Bye :) <3

Summer Fashion Staples | The Summer Series Part 1
So I decided to show you some of my "2014 Summer Fashion Staples"
••• CROP TOPS •••
So I understand that these have been trending for quite some time, but I'm really looking forward to wearing these in the summer as Singapore gets exceptionally hot.
I really love the way these look and feel.
When I wear these, I like to pair them with my regular denim cut off shorts, and maybe tie a plaid shirt around my exposed stomach if I feel I'm exposing too much, and throw on a old sleeveless jacket or a jacket if I feel too naked. These definitely look hip, so you could definitely pair these with snapbacks, beanies, hi tops, combat boots, and just anything hip and trendy.
From: Forever 21
From: Bershka
••• OVERSIZED TEES •••
For this category, I really only have one item to show you, which is my favourite trendy oversized tee.
So normally t-shirts are skin tight, which are super uncomfortable, so I buy like two sizes to big for me so I can have it loose, which doesn't always look too trendy, but is super comfy.
So when I saw this oversized tee, that is MEANT to look trendy and is MEANT to be oversized, I just had to get it... right?
These look great with distressed jeans, textured shorts, cut offs, knee length shorts, preppy ruffled skirts (ha, not my style)... anything!
I especially like what my tee says... I don't know, I just really hate it when people wear shirts saying stuff that makes no sense like: Soft Kitten, or Varsity Cute Angels College (???!!! WHAT???!!) it's just like WHY did you buy it??? Oh yeah, and I recently spotted at a local Bershka a sweatshirt that said: "Life is a strawberry." I felt like ripping that sweatshirt to shreds.
But without further ado, my tee:

#selfie (btw if you dont get it, search up the brand céline)
••• DRESSES AND SKIRTS •••
Now that the sun is out, I am going to try and wear some dresses and skirts.
First thing that you should know is that I am SO not a girly sort of girl, I refused to wear a skirt for about the past three or four years, and now I'm kind of slowly coming around my phobia (haha not really) of wearing skirts and dresses.
I don't know, I've really been trying to break these things down, because when I wear them I feel too formal and preppy, which I HATE.
So I like tying my hair up in kiddie styles, or just casual dos to make it seem less formal.
1) Skater Skirt
This is a pretty cool skirt... I have to say. Except I can NEVER find the perfect top to match it!! Which drives me INSANE! So I end up wearing solid colour on solid colour which makes me feel so formal, because I'm wearing black on mint green. So I've been hunting around for some graphic tees, tanks and camis (maybe some bustiers??) But do leave me a comment telling me what YOU wear your skater skirts with, to give me some ideas!!
(And I apologize for the fact that my photo makes my skirt look flat, and less fun...)
From: Forever 21
2) Sundress
Okay... so this is what I'm pretty scared about.
Some dresses just look too formal, but I thought with this pattern, it could NEVER be formal. Except for the fact I feel it goes down to long, so it makes me feel pretty formal when I wear it. But I'm really hoping I'll get over that and just end up wearing it out and be like whatever.. I like it, so I should wear it!
This is super pretty with leather sandals, casual flip flops, colourful converse or vans.... This would be a great dress to go to the beach in (the crop tops would be great too..) just wear this over your swimsuit! The pattern on this is slightly arabic, and super super pretty.
From: Cotton On
So yeah!
Hope you guys enjoyed my summer fashion staples.
I will be posting around two more posts on Summer - 1) Room Decor and 2) Makeup, Hair and Colours!
I hope this gave you some idea of what you want to get for your summer wardrobe (I will be looking into overalls and some very pricey Oscar Blandi products....

So if you would like some more inspiration go check out the June/July issue of Seventeen Magazine, it gave me HUGE inspiration for this post.
So enjoy!!

NYX.... I LOVE YOU.
Yesterday I went shopping.
How interesting, you are probably thinking, because it's not like the entire population of Singapore goes shopping every other Saturday. No. Ha.
So while we were still shopping I picked up a pretty pink bag, which will not be featured, but I still felt like mentioning it, for the sake of it.
But while I was doing a monthly or every-other-shopping-trip browse at Sephora, I came across the NYX counter. Yes, I know. How did you not see the NYX counter before? But honestly, it was tucked all the way at the back of Sephora, and in a corner too, with the in-house overpriced Sephora makeup brushes, and the huge rack of skincare products.
But while I was there I came across the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil, and as my eyes sweeped over them, they rested on this lovely, light, shimmery pink colour, which I did pick up and try, and I instantly fell in LOVE with it.
Knowing Sephora and the fact that I live in Singapore, I thought that it would be $40 or something pricey like that, but HOW MUCH WAS IT??? ONLY $9 SGD! I was mindblown, so I immediately raced to the counter and purchased my Jumbo Eye Pencil.
I think I'm a little obsessed. As you can see below, as there are about 4 photos of this eye pencil, all from different angles, for your viewing pleasure.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 605 "Strawberry Milk" lying on top of May 2014 Teen Vogue |
This is a multi-purpose product, that can be used as eyeshadow base, eyeshadow or eyeliner.
I tend to go for eyeliner/shadow. I like to line my eyes with it, but also take it down into the inner and outer corners of my eye. But I also blend it into my crease.
I would suggest using a primer for this, as I find that it can "run away" in a very short time.
But overall, I really do love this product, and I really want to run out and buy MORE colours. I hope this doesn't turn into an addiction.
But yes, NYX, I do love you (for your products AND you're amazing prices)
Bye :)

WANT SLEEK, SHINY, SMOOTH HAIR?!
Do YOU have
FRIZZY
UNTAMEABLE
HAIR
with NO VOLUME????
Well cross those things OFF your list because I just found the solution to all of your problems ;)
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
••• Intensive Moisturising Treatment/ Hair Mask •••
Mark Hill MiracOILicious 2-Minute Intensive Treatment with Moroccan Argan Oil
••• TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protectant Shine Spray •••
••• A Volumising Mousse •••
TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse
••• Moisturising or Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner •••
TRESemmé Moisture Rich Shampoo and Conditioner for Dry or Damaged Hair
••• Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil •••
••• A Silicone Brush •••
(If you're like me and can't live without your Tangle Teezer you can use that a little bit too)
HOW TO DO IT:
••• STEP ONE •••
••• STEP ONE •••
Start off by washing your hair with a shampoo and conditioner of your choice.
For this I am using the TRESemmé Moisture Rich Shampoo and Conditioner because by moisturising your hair, it becomes sleeker and smoother.
I will only add a dollop of conditioner and then add around a small scoop of my Mark Hill 2 Minute Intensive Treatment for extra moisture.
••• STEP TWO •••
Next, towel dry your hair carefully, and comb through lightly with your brush.
Then spritz on some of the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protectant Shine Spray evenly to all of your hair.
••• STEP THREE •••
While the Heat Protectant Shine Spray (which is one of the key products in this) is setting in your hair, apply a mousse of your choice.
My favourites are the Lee Stafford My Big Fat Root Boost Mousse Spray, and the TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse. I will just shake it and distribute a generous amount to my palm and massage it into my roots and the crown of my head, where I feel it goes flat the most.
••• STEP FOUR •••
At this point, you can just add a small walnut-sized amount of Moroccan Argan Oil, just as the finishing touch.
I like adding an oil in as it 1) makes your hair smell nice, but it also contributes to making your hair feel super silky and soft.
••• STEP FIVE •••
Blow drying! What fun!
While blow drying your hair you want to make sure you get it super straight, so I suggest you get someone else to do it for you with a brush, and the nozzle pointed down.

But if you are going to do it yourself, just be careful, and it might help to turn your head upside-down.
THE FINISHED
LOOK
*****************
My hair has a bit of a natural wave in it that I quite like so I didn't use a flat iron.
But yeah! No frizz, just sleek, smooth, shiny hair!
Hope this helped <3

MY MARCH FAVOURITES (!!)
HAPPY APRIL FOOLS!!
Okay, I need to calm down.
SO since it's April, I NEED to do a March Favourites (!!) (That's the title by the way, which includes the (!!) bit)
I have so many things to rave about, from beauty products to books and movies and yeah... I need to start or else I will start randomly talking like mad. So here goes. MY MARCH FAVOURITES (!!)

I have so many things to rave about, from beauty products to books and movies and yeah... I need to start or else I will start randomly talking like mad. So here goes. MY MARCH FAVOURITES (!!)
Left To Right:
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm "Audacious"
Essie "First Timer"
Essie "Find Me An Oasis"
Mark Hill MiracOILicious 2 Minute Intensive Treatment
Soap&Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream
TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse
Toni&Guy Casual Flexible Hold Hairspray
I was in Watsons the other day, and spotted this at the Revlon counter.
Having seen so many bloggers and beauty gurus talk about this Lip Stain I decided to give it a go, I really wanted to get it in Whimsical, which looked like a really cool colour, but instead I settled for this lovely hue - Audacious.
It's a rather bright orange, which I love, because it looks bold and daring, yet sort of simple and elegant and natural at the same time.
Essie "Find Me An Oasis" |
This is currently my favourite polish of all time.
I liked the colour. I like Essie. It was perfect.
Enough said.
It's like white, yet not white enough, but not blue either. It's like it's in two different places at once, because it doesn't belong here and it doesn't belong there. It's just like me!
Essie "First Timer" |
I went out looking for Mint Candy Apple, and came home with this little bottle of polish.
I really like this green....
Okay, this is enough. I just LIKE THE COLOUR, so I do not NEED TO EXPLAIN why I bought it. So that is why I love it :) Ha.
Okay, let me warn you, that if you like sweet smells, then scroll right past this to the next product, because this is NOT FOR YOU.
After getting used to nice flowery scents, I thought that this one was quite strong and overpowering, but the smell doesn't matter.
This product WORKS. Just take some of the squidgy substance and "work it" all over your hair and leave it in for - get this - 2 minutes, and your hair is more hydrated, moist and ALIVE.
buy it.
Okay, now this product is definitely for you sweet-flowery-scent loving people.
I got this because I saw that Zoella and Tanya Burr were using it, and also because when I was googling it, it got super good reviews, so I picked it up in Sephora for $25.00
Let me say, it's amazing...
The packaging is AWESOME, I mean Soap&Glory, I just want to buy everything they make because of the packaging, and the way they phrase things.
I've mentioned this before, but if this is your first time reading my blog, then I have to say I have eczema, but not super serious eczema, just sort of medium-scale eczema. If you search it up it looks horrible, and I feel so bad for all those people who have super serious eczema, because I know how hard it is to heal.
So, this product is super moisturising, and fragrant at the same time, which is a huge bonus, because you feel awesomely hydrated and also fragrant, you just feel as if you need to smell yourself all the time.
*Note - If you have sensitive skin before using skin products like this always test it on a small patch of skin before slathering it all over yourself, just to make sure you don't have a reaction*
The TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse.
I was a little weary when I picked this up, as I needed a substitute as my Lee Stafford Mousse had just run out, and I just decided to pick this up.
When I first used it I think I put too much on, as I felt like my hair was constantly sticky, and the berry smell was overpowering, I didn't like it at all.
So the next time I washed my hair I put a little less on, and the stickiness went away! Voila :)
I actually really like this product now, as it gives my hair more volume and texture, and more of a matte feeling.
So far TRESemmé is living up to my expectations!
Last but not least, Toni&Guy's Casual Flexible Hold Hairspray.
I always had this in my collection, but never really used it, as I never really tried extreme styles that I needed to be in place the entire day.
So one day I just saw it standing in my bathroom and I was like "Eh, why not?!"
So I spritzed it all over my hair and scrunched to create texture (which probably could have been done with my T&G Salt Spray now that I come to think of it) and then created a really pretty messy side braid (which I WILL do a tutorial on, seeing as my boho braid was a little bit of a fail)
Love this product as it doesn't make my hair "crispy" and allows "lightweight control with movement".
BEFORE I GO I HAVE TO SAY:
I have also really been enjoying reading! Nerd.
Right now I'm currently really enjoying the Divergent Trilogy (by the ever so talented 25-year-old Veronica Roth), and I look forward to seeing the movie soon, Looking for Alaska by John Green and Wicked by Sara Shepherd, which is the fifth (I think?) book in the Pretty Little Liars series, because Season 4 has just ended and I need A to keep me in suspense!
Also loving my new collection of Neon Sharpies, and other colours that I bought yesterday :)
And I also know now that I am actually super rubbish and critiquing things, and explaining stuff like this. Ha.

Simple Skin & Haircare for Tweens
If you're a tween or teen, whatever, then you will know this is the time that you should start taking more responsibility and taking care of yourself more intensely than before.
So I just put together some of my favourite products, or products that I use, that I find super useful and amazing. This will just be simple skin and haircare, and nothing too fancy :)
So enjoy....
So I just put together some of my favourite products, or products that I use, that I find super useful and amazing. This will just be simple skin and haircare, and nothing too fancy :)
So enjoy....
Left to Right:
Stiefel SpectraBAN SPF 60 Sun Block Cream
OXY 10 Vanishing Formula
The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Gel
The Body Shop Aloe Gentle Exfoliator
The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash
Okay, so these are basically my everyday products that I use on my face.
For the sunblock, I have to say that I am a VERY lazy person when it comes to sunblock, and applying it regularly when I go out (which I do regret afterwards!) so it's good to get into the habit of putting on sunblock. I actually got prescribed this sunblock as I have eczema/very very very sensitive skin, so my doctor prescribed it for me.
Next, products for your zits and pimples! Yay!
Haha.
So, I use two products - OXY 10 Vanishing Formula and The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Gel. On days where my spots are not very noticeable and huge, I will just pop on the blemish gel, and over time the spot will fade away, but if I get a HUGE spot, then I will tend to go for OXY, but never put it on in the mornings before school as you will know it is VISIBLE as I sadly discovered.....
Exfoliators...
This in general is not very good for tweens, as I used to have a piano teacher whose aunt was a beautician, and she said exfoliators are VERY bad for your skin, as after a while it makes it feel really rough. So I don't tend to use this on a daily or regular basis, more like every 10-15 days, or when I think my skin needs a pick me up.
But I do use The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash everyday, as I think it really helps to get rid of all the excess oils, and makeup off your face... Also it just helps your face feel really refreshed after you've washed with it. The only problem is the fact that I go through them SO QUICKLY, like I will inhale them. Like they are my oxygen. Also, this is a soap-free cleanser, so it definitely won't irritate or aggravate your skin if your skin is super sensitive like mine.
Left to Right:
A-Derma Acid Hyaluronique Cream for Upset Skins and Cetaphil Skin Restoring Body Moisturiser
A-Derma Acid Hyaluronique Cream for Upset Skins and Cetaphil Skin Restoring Body Moisturiser
As someone who has eczema, I can never emphasise enough the importance of moisturising your skin on a daily basis.
If you are like me, and also suffer from eczema, don't worry, yes, you will stand out from your classmates because of your outbreaks, but don't let their stares bring you down! No, just moisturise very regularly with the creams above or PhysioGel Anti-Inflammatory Cream (for eczema), or if you live in a cooler country then I definitely suggest E45, it's super soothing.
I find the two creams above are very light, and are just good for all of you who have normal skin. But I only tend to use these if I'm having a good skin day eczema-wise.
Left to Right:
EOS "Strawberry Sorbet", Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue "Icy Mint", Maybelline Baby Lips "Smoothing Cherry" with SPF 20.
Next is moisturising your lips! Yes, nobody wants chapped lips, and so here are a couple of my recommendations for moisturising your lips. EOS is really good for just quick moisturising in the morning.
I tend to apply my Dr. Rescue at night time, as it won't rub off and will make a bigger affect on my lips than if I applied it in the day time.
As Zoella once said, it is also VERY important to get a lip balm with SPF! So when I'm out and about I tend to use my Smoothing Cherry Baby Lips with SPF 20. Which by the way, smells DELICIOUS, more delicious than the other two. Which sort of scares me, because I always feel I need to eat it. Ach.
Adidas Women Fresh Cool&Care 48 Hour Anti-Perspirant
So, you might think this is a little more personal, but you know, whatever.
I find deodorants are great, but I find that many anti-perspirants are way better, as they stop sweating, and since they stop sweating, they stop the smell too.
But if it bothers you that you might start smelling too, then you can get great Anti-Perspirant Deodorants, which are number two on my list, as they work great too.
But I really like this anti-perspirant, as a lot of them don't work. They say they're anti-perspirant but really they don't do anything at all except make your underarms (or armpits if you prefer the less sophisticated term) feel sticky, or leave white marks on your t-shirt.
Left to Right:
The Body Shop Honeymania Shower Gel, Toni&Guy Nourish Conditioner for Normal Hair, Toni&Guy Cleanse Shampoo for Dry Hair, Pantene Pro-V Silky Smooth Care Shampoo, Pantene Pro-V Silky Smooth Care Conditioner
Not too sure why the shower gel is with the hair products, but I guess I just took pictures of the "shower products" together.
The Body Shop is awesome, as all of the cleansers and body/skin products are soap-free, so they don't irritate or aggravate sensitive skin, and also does an amazing job at leaving your skin refreshed, clean and fragrant :)
Next are my favourite Toni&Guy Shampoo and Conditioners. Yes, they are different, but I haven't gotten through my conditioner yet as I put on such a small amount at a time, and also I like to alternate between three of my favourite conditioners and sometimes I will use a hair mask, so it takes me ages to finish off a conditioner.
But overall, I think the Toni&Guy shampoo and conditioners really DO work, as after I started using the shampoo for dry hair, I feel as if my hair as regained alot of lost moisture, and is starting to look more "alive".
Next I have my Pantene Pro-V Silky Smooth Care Shampoo and Conditioner in salon size. I accidentally bought the shampoo, thinking it was the conditioner (as I had used it before, and really loved it), so I went back and bought the conditioner. At first I thought I hated it, but I actually really quite like it! I alternate between Pantene and Toni&Guy though, and will generally only use this shampoo and conditioner when I feel like my hair needs a pick me up (oh my use of words these days...)
Toni&Guy Prep Heat Protection Mist
This is more of a tool for styling, but it is really important to protect your hair from the damage that is caused my directly applying heat to your hair by blow drying, straightening or curling.
I don't notice much from heat defense, as it doesn't really leave a "mark", I'm just happy as long as it does it's job.
So, just spray this on before blow-drying and styling and you're good to go!
So yeah, that's it! Thanks for reading this, and I really hope this helped you in some way.
Bye :)

Scape: My New Best Friend
yes, yes, i know.
if you live in singapore, and if you are under the age of 20, then you will probably think that i've been living under a rock for the past few months. but yes, i only just finally got round to visiting scape, which is a "youth hub" which, very funnily, is next to THE hub.
just a quick apology for the blurry photos.... ach.
so, basically, scape is a cool place to get stuff that you usually can only find in the states or in the uk. me and my friends all watch bethany mota, zoella, sprinkle of glitter and tanya burr, so we all are dying to get our hands on the products that they use. like EOS (lip balm) is really hard to come buy in singapore, but you can get it at scape! ;)
so i set out on saturday to buy a present for one of my friend's birthday. so here's what i got for her and some things for me, and i got all of this stuff from dyon international nails, makeup and spa - which is the most awesome shop EVER. i mean they sell opi for like 10 bucks.

these are my pretty essie polishes.
so i really wanted to get essie "mint candy apple", which looked like a really nice soft opaque mint green, and i've been looking for essie ever since i discovered it.
so when i walked into dyon and saw essie, i almost screamed, i was happy.
left to right:
essie "first timer" - which is the closest i got to "mint candy apple", it's a nice watermelon green, or newbie green.
essie - "in the cab-ana" - oh my god, this is THE nicest sky blue ever!!
essie "dj play that song" - best name ever for a lovely neon bright purpley-plum
My Friend's Birthday Gift!
okay, so the little ball on top is eos lip balm in "sweet mint" which is the coolest (literally!) and nicest flavour. it cost $8.00, but i got a huge five pack for only $10! which is a HUGE bargain.
on the side is essie "dj play that song", which is a really funky bright neon purple/plum colour, which suits my friend very nicely.
and the bracelet is in fact an infinity bracelet, which i got outside in the bazaar/flea market, it's so pretty.
and last but not least, the box is a 12-pack of hair chalk. be amazed. i'm not really sure if they actually work, but i really hope they do!
ooh fragrance mist!
this is my very first victoria's secret fragrance mist. it smells lovely, of course.

not too sure how to critique fragrance mist, as they all smell nice, and that's their job basically!
i love this smell so much, and will definitely be purchasing another when i run out eventually!
when i was buying my friend's infinity bracelet, i couldn't help but pick up this beautiful boho hand sign.
yeah, you can just stare at it in awe. haha.
so yeah! there you go! my scape haul. if i go back i will definitely be posting more about it.
for all you bath and bodyworks lovers, just saying, dyon sells it too, they sell candles, lotions, hand sanitizers and whatever else there is in bath and bodyworks.
so yeah!

How To: Messy Boho Braid
messy boho braid
step 1:
push all of your hair to one side.
spritz some salt spray up and down your hair for more texture and "messiness" after you have applied it, scrunch your hair up and down for the textured look.

step 2:
secure your hair in a loose side pony-tail and add on some more salt spray to make it more texturised and defined.
step 3:
next, split your hair into two sections. take a small piece from the back from one side, and swap it for one piece from the back on another side - aka please fishtail braid your ponytail.
if i didn't explain that all too well click here for a tutorial on how to fishtail braid.
but you really don't want to do a really tiny textured fishtail braid, just keep taking big chunks, as it will look like a normal braid, yet more textured.
After you're finished braiding all of your ponytail, then secure it with an elastic band or hair tie.
step 4:
gently tug and pull on your fishtail braid to make it a little looser and messier in general. do not pull really hard or else you might pull the entire braid out.
step 5:
carefully cut out the first hair elastic at the top and scrunch up your hair a little more, you can even pull out some hair from the front and there you go!
okay so here's a quick explanation about the bohemian style:
it's very laidback, and textured, with lots of different patterns, colours. it's all about individuality. the reason you do boho hair loose and textured is because of the laidback style.
i'm sorry that i didn't take a picture of the style full on
maybe next time
i don't have permission yet :/
for more boho hair tutorials please stick around, i'm planning to do alot more of these as you can't find many on the internet.
goodbye sunday. haha.
please enjoy
bye
xoxo
